Discover the joy of mountain biking with our Sprockids Rockies program! Designed for adults aged 18 and older, this fun and educational program helps build confidence and develop skills on the trails at Mont Rigaud.
The Sprockids program was founded in 1990 by Doug Detwiller, a passionate educator and mountain biking advocate from British Columbia. It focuses on 55 skills divided into 4 levels, taught progressively so that each new skill builds on the previous one. Our certified instructors guide participants in a dynamic and supportive environment where fun remains at the heart of the learning process.
NEW FOR 2025:
Participants will have access to the chairlift during lessons to enhance their experience. However, as building strength and endurance is essential for effective pedalling, the sessions will emphasize pedalling uphill, and could include some ascents using the chairlift.PREREQUISITES:
- Adults aged 18 and older (as of September 30, 2025)
- Ability to ride a bike without training wheels
- Wearing a helmet is mandatory; other protective gear, such as knee and elbow pads, is optional
PROGRAM DETAILS:
- Duration: 7 consecutive weeks (1 session per weekend)
- Times: Saturday or Sunday, at 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
- Each session duration: 120 minutes (2h)
- Trail Access: Mountain bike trail access is included during lessons
- Dates:
- Spring session: Starts May 3 and 4, 2025
- Fall session: Starts September 6 and 7, 2025
- If a lesson is postponed because of the weather, it is automatically postponed to the end of the 7-week session (the Saturday/Sunday after the last Saturday/Sunday)
